How to Register on New Family Search

NOTE:    If you have previously registered your LDS Account user name and password on New Family Search as a member-user, you will not need to register again as a Consultant or Priesthood Leader, because we only register there once.

If you have not yet created an LDS Account user name and password, you may do so by clicking here,
which will link you to:

 https://apps.lds.org/signin/go/membershipInfo.jsf?referrer=new+FamilySearch

[You can even enter “LDS Account Registration” in Google and it will take you to the same site.]

The screen you will see at the LDS Account registration home page will be a simple data entry of your membership number and date of birth.

NOTE: You can left click on any image to enlarge it. Then, after viewing, just click the back button to return to the tutorial.

When you click the “Next Step” button at the bottom, you will be given an opportunity to create a user name and password.

For security purposes, be sure to choose a password that combines both letters and numbers.

It is okay to try something that you have already and used and like. (If it has been previously used by someone else, the site will tell you so and you can choose another.)

Let’s illustrate the two intermediate screens that a person will see if they did not know how to go directly to the LDS Account registration page and clicked, instead, on the green “Register for the new FamilySearch” link just below the sign in windows on the New Family Search home page.

The next step would be to select the top link for creating an LDS Account for members.

When you click on the button for selecting an LDS Account, this page results:

When you click the “Continue" button at the bottom of the page you will be directed to the LDS Account Registration home page as previously shown above.

Once you have your LDS Account ready, just log onto New Family Search at www.new.familysearch.org and sign in.
